Ken Wanted to Run Them Off by Weezilou

Ken Wanted to Run Them Off

I suggested I get a photo first! I was sure they would start to fly when I stepped out the back door, so I set my camera to capture their movement...
...but they just kept paddling...
I moved slowly and I moved closer...
...but they just kept paddling...
They hung together to it was only a matter of selecting any photo, but here, I was on the edge of the pool with my fixed-lens...
...and they just kept paddling...
Aw. They didn't want to leave. So beautiful.

I guess when water is involved they claim the territory as theirs.

Although I’d probably side with Ken, my DH would be out there feeding them. Such lovely plumage though.

They know they are safe with you!

@mozette @casablanca @ludwigsdiana @blightygal @haskar @wakelys @pamknowler @joansmor @kartia @kchuk To each of you, thank you for spending a moment to share your thoughts! Diana, Thank heaven for our pool-service people and chemicals that keeps the pool clean! Elyse, Casa and Lynda, they showed absolutely no fear, though I was so sure one of them would bolt! Kartia, Ken would be out there flapping a towel to show them he means business (hahaha!) but I suspect they know that, yes, I'm the one who feeds them! Joan, Pam and Fun-face, this, I suspect, is the maternity waiting room! One day Mama will return with her Mr and they'll want no part of the interlopers here. Susan and Hasker, it's always a Show out there! While I don't have time to lounge around and watch it all, I can always break for photos! I, personally, (and in his heart, Ken as well) feel privileged that, in the heart of the suburbs, so many birds and animals frequent our yard! You all know *I* welcome them as a Gift!

Cheeky beggars!!
April 24th, 2024
They're used to you and your camera.

@gardencat This time of year, the females have made nests (elsewhere) and the bachelors arrive here in high numbers while "the women are busy looking after babies"! Soon, a male and female will return; a few times she has returned with babies in tow!
