It's been a long time since we've come up the coast to visit our daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. In between were the fires and mudslides during which time we couldn't have gotten to this location even if we'd wished to.
I was surprised that the surrounding mountains weren't the ash-white-like-a-moonscape that I'd seen pictured. Ashley said that all that washed away with the mudslides that came down the mountains! Because of that, it's not as starkly shocking to see from a distance, but up close as our train passed along the highway, it was all-too-clear that a calamity had taken place.
Before going to dinner, I sat and watched the sun set and marveled that the tragedy that had happened recently along these mountain ranges was made invisible in the fading light. It brings to mind "Taps",
“Day is done, Gone the sun,
From the lake, From the hill,
From the sky.
All is well, Safely rest,
God is nigh.”
Such a fabulous Sky always brings hope I think! Such traumatic events have happened to the community where Ashley and family live. Please god the extremes of weather are over so that they can take a breath and bring their communities back to Life! Enjoy your time with your family who I am sure are thrilled to have you visit! Fav for your stunning image!
A beautiful sunset, I love the mountains going down to the ocean. So glad you could visit your daughter and her family, I know how glad they were to see you, after all they’ve been through. So hopeful 2018 will be better for everyone who lived through such incredible weather events, in California and Texas and Florida. 💖
An excelent capture showing the beauty of our planet. Even after disasters it get back to what it was before. We most take more care. Fav. Hope, and believe, you have a great time with you family.
