A friend, Stephanie Chou, a Master Calligrapher and artist, asked me to design a card to celebrate "Year of the Dog" to add to her collection she posts during the year. I'm humbled that she asked, and pulled together this design that I completed at 2AM... In the upper left is my name in Chinese, designed by her uncle, a linguist, who took into consideration my personality type as well. (The pronunciation is "Meng Lu") The symbol on the lower right means "Dog" for this Zodiac year.("Lily" of Lunenburg was my silhouette model...)
The background is that twirling technique again, but I did some alterations to the single piece to be multiplied. My first reaction to the finished mandala was that it looked like a hairball! But in completion, I see a celebration and fireworks, more suited to this Doggy Celebration!
I am so impressed with your art work Louise! Your friend will treasure this I am sure! I love the Chinese writing! I always wanted to see my name written in Chinese. A beautiful image! Fav!
This is fantastic, Louise! I had already faved it but now had the time to go back and read your story and description! You are amazing! Now, the only thing that would have made it better was Sophie's silhouette...LOL! Very well done!
