One Special Mama! by Weezilou

One Special Mama!

We're just back from another weekend in San Diego where we went to the zoo with friends. It was only a short while before closing, and I was afraid we'd be a bit rushed to stop to see the pandas before going out for dinner, but I couldn't have been more wrong!

There was no line and few people watching. She was lying down, but at least we got to see her, I thought. And then she stood up, stretched, and began walking around her enclosure! Shortly, she was striking poses at one location, and then another! All four of us who hadn't expected a great deal couldn't stop exclaiming about our good luck! The staff member who was giving us information about this 220# bear told us that late day was one of the best times to come by! I'd accept that for Gospel Truth because it was exceptional! And this special mama? She's produced 6 off-spring the natural way and has given her best to ward of extinction!

God Bless her! I can't imagine a world without these gorgeous creatures!!!
OMG what a breathtaking experience that must have been! She is absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful pose! Even the pandas perform for you Louise! Now I can call you the panda whisperer! Huge fav for this lovely image!

@pamknowler ♥ Thank you for such a delightfully enthusiastic response!! Looking at this, I just want to throw my arms around her and put her on the bed with us! I said to Ken she looks like she came straight from FAO Schwarz!

She's wonderful! I understand the thrill you felt. I was lucky enough to see the pandas on loan from China to the Toronto zoo - twice! They have since moved to their new temporary home in Calgary. They will be missed!

She's beautiful. I've seen pandas a couple of times in zoos in Asia. I could watch them all day :)

@pamknowler @jamibann @louannwarren @seattlite @yorkshirekiwi @mastermek Thank you all for the faves! Beyond this wonderful panda "posing for me", it was such a special and memorable afternoon, I appreciate you liking this, too!

@elkereturns Their availability is so rare, we should feel a certain awe for being in their presence! This panda has been in the zoo for her 25+ years and produced all the offspring there. Only her youngest was in the next enclosure, but he was "zonked out" in, shall we say "An inappropriate position" to be respectfully photographed!

@dide @huvesaker Thank you! The "Lucky Timing" was the half hour we were there and privileged to see all her activity!
