Ken drove up to the mountains for the day, so when Posh was waiting for her treats, I did my best to get a few photos. She was SO sweet, resting her little paws on my fingers! However, when the food was gone, she began to "dig" like there might be something more "underneath"! Didn't hurt...just an interesting observation as to what she thinks of this "never-ending food dish"!
I just can’t get over your amazing ability to convey to an animal that it is perfectly safe with you. I’ve never seen a squirrel get close enough to a human to be hand fed! You are too cool for school, Louise!
Precious! I wish I had pictures of my daughter hand feeding a gopher years ago. She got a baby goat and asked how to make him love her more than anyone. I told her to sleep in the pen with him. She did and each night a gopher came up and finally she was feeding him alfalfa pellets just as you are feeding your sweet friend!
Gloria jones has a great idea... you should do a children's book with Posh. :-) So adorable! I wouldn't be so brave - I'd be the one person that Posh decided to bite. I'm just a plain old fraidy cat.
Well, Louise, since you are on the P Page and whenever I go there, I see this picture again, I must tell you that each time I get a big smile on my face - ear to ear - just enjoying this picture. It is so cute and so special! Thank you for sharing!
@suelbiz47 I've been nipped by squirrels before... Comes with the territory if they think you might have more food! There's no history of them being rabid, so I don't worry about it; I just enjoy the moments!
BTW, Louise, Karen Hurd, formerly of 365 and a colleague of mine, asked me to contact you so she could get in touch. I will private message you her email on FB.
@Weezilou Good luck with that. Any interest in hitting the Butterfly Jungle next Tuesday? With that fancy new camera you've got the images should be killer!
@stray_shooter Awesome!!! Ken and I were trying to decide between that and the zoo last week, and because SD local friends could join us, we went to the zoo. Great idea! I'll let Ken know!
