I sent this to my daughter to show the boys, and the comment was that he looked as though he had a party hat on each ear! As this was one of my first photos on the second trip back to Safari Park, I was already doing better than I had the week before!
It was my three grandsons who first taught me that this is a Caracal, from Africa; I'd never heard of it before! Their favorite show is "Wild Krats" and they feature different animals, so they told me all about him! Now I'm as enamoured as they are as he's adorable, and sat right in front of us as his handler told us more about him. New fact: All that swishing hair attracts birds, and you can guess the rest!
@novab Not in this instance, but there's a story for another day... Saw a posting at the vet for an older cat needing a home and Ken was adamant I was NOT getting another cat... I simply can't understand... ♥
A beautiful shot of this beautiful animal.
(Taking pic.`s are not the problem . Within a limited area I can use my arm. I can squat and the display is turnable. A big problem is chanching a lamp bulb . taking a shower , and get dressed.)
How extraordinary, never seen anything like it. A bit ordinary of Ken not to let you bring one home though. I didn't realise you had arm troubles, what's up?
@catwhiskers And so how was it we've missed YOU! A handler had brought him out to talk about him on the little stage not far from the entrance. I haven't located them within the park, so I was delighted to find them showing him off and talking about him!
@golftragic arm "problems" are a residual from taking a face plant twice in the last year+... Cortisone injections keep the pain at bay, but after the last, two months ago, it's back with a vengeance : ( I want to have another before we leave for the summer, so I'll soldier up. Part of "old age" dues, I think...
@Weezilou Face plant? = you fell over? Sounds like you've torn something in your arm and/or shoulder to have that degree of pain. Cortisone's very good to hold the pain but is there any way you can get the problem fixed? I know only too well about the OA bit, my nerve-damaged foot and physically damaged, twice operated upon ankle is playing up bigtime and giving me real grief. Im seeing my orthorpaedic surgeon in about three weeks and have all fingers and toes crossed that I won't need more surgery. The combination of OA, a lifetime of sport played hard and over-mobile joints is Not A Good Thing.
