"MANY" Blue Rocks

Here lies the quaint little community of Blue Rocks (in the larger sense) that was hit by a high-tide storm surge overnight! (Did I mention that this was the road to the far end of town?!) Everything in Lunenburg was still closed as the electricity failed far and wide, but I thought it would be incongruous if the wee little cafe at the end might be open!

We'll never know, though, on this third day all of Blue Rocks is still without electricity, and word is that the cafe is giving away free ice cream! (Would you like that poured into a mug?!)
That looks like it's going to be a while before it's cleared. I hope that you are okay and that your services are going to be restored soon.

@salza Ours were restored as we were eating a barbecued dinner last night! Others we know are still not as fortunate, but compared to the folks in the Bahamas, this really is nothing! (It was a lady who had the Bobcat and had begun to clear the road...folks come together here to help!)

Amazing shot of the devastation. Good to hear that you at least are sorted out. Feel sorry for those that lost so much, some everything they had. Mother nature can be so cruel

Oh dear not fun. I had for years wanted to live on the coast but that want has left me now with the storms constantly flooding cottages and taking out roads. But melted ice cream - yum.

Hope it didn't get into people's homes. How about the boats that were on docks in that little harbor? Looks like Dorian made her mark up there. I don't see how the Bahamas will ever recover from their ordeal.

A great story telling image! Great to see someone out with their tractor so soon! The power of the sea is quite frightening.

We were spared in central Virginia but I do recall past Septembers when school had to be cancelled because of hurricane damage and loss of electricity. Sometimes it is just an inconveniences but for others it's a tragedy. I know you are grateful to be spared the worst.

Wow. Hope no one is hurt or has big losses. We Dutch know what a storm and water can do. I still remember the big flood of 1953.

@summerfield you have a keen eye! That actually is the road Kenwood have parked alongside and where those boards are we did passed around them and down to the water! Remembering that spot, you get a good idea of how high the water was when it pushed in! I've been told they wasted no time in getting it cleared off!

@sailingmusic thanks Myrna! I don't thank anyone has a house down close enough to the water's edge to be damaged. The road that circles around is at the lowest point and the houses are built up sloping hills above the road. I think they know what to expect!

Oh gosh, you really got a pasting there. Good that you're all OK.
