I blew the dust of long-ago from these stylish girls. With a bit of color and rouged cheeks, they might have been waiting for friends at the front gate; it's a late summer afternoon in 1924.
I spent today once again playing fast and loose with lives from long ago. Like playing with dress-up dolls, I set them on a rural road in California. This, being one of the longest, continually inhabited neighborhoods in southern California, it's fully conceivable this might once have been an actual sight.
So sweet. Reminds me of a time when my sister and I were playing in my Aunt's backyard on a spring day.She had the best wallpaper in her sewing room. The walls were covered with black wallpaper with hundreds of pink roses in the design.
@joysfocus Perfect, Joy...time travel back to happy memories and beautiful places! I was about to turn in for the night, but since you're here, it must mean I have pictures to go see! Missing you!♥
Having seen the original b&w of the girls I am blown away at your finished creation! So clever! The style of the hair and dress of the one on the rhs - it could be my mum! I love these old photos!
I like what you have created - but these girls have a smile that is too fresh and charming. In those days they had to remain still and not look anything!
@maggiemae not exactly so! I've been collecting photos for years.. in the late 1800s people had to sit for what were called cabinet cards. As cameras became owned by individuals, people loosened up and began posing! My favorites were from the 20s. Clothing styles changed dramatically, and young people were having fun!!! Even in a photo taken with one camera, you might have someone else holding another camera. I've scanned hundreds of my old photos...many purchased through the years... and I enjoy creating art collages with them!
