On July 31 I wished to be "carried back"; "God helps those who help themselves"... The year is 1914 and this lovely old Model-T stands out along the dirt road it travels.
Sleuthing led me to an approximate year as I have several old pictures of this car. It was in production between 1908 - 1927, but in one of my photos, 5 women sit in the car, all wearing white and sporting Gibson Girl hairstyles. With the advent of WWl, both styles went out of fashion, so given that the US didn't enter the war when it began, I've settled on the 1914 date.
Unlike the most modern electric cars in the 21st century, this would have been heard from a distance as it came down the road. The car looks quite roomy to accommodate several friends. What a magical time this was when such a ride was so uniquely special, wondrous and greatly appreciated!
Your comments and interactions have been a pleasure to read, so thank you for enjoying this distraction from 2020 with me...
Nicely done - and that's when Los Rios probably really had such traffic. Given that the auto is a right hand drive, could this be a British edition of the Model T?
@stray_shooter thanks, Ron... I'd scanned one scrapbook which was American,so you may be better versed in those early editions. I noticed the right hand drive, but I know next to nothing about early models. I know period fashion, so that's how I came up with a date. Can you tell I'm having fun?
@summerfield Thank you, Sweet Friend! I enjoyed your email last evening as I settled in for the night; thank you for that, and I'll reply soon ♥ The day is getting underway, and Ken's making me a lemon cheesecake (as per my request!) As the day begins well, I think it will end well also! Thanks again !!!
