When we first came here, I wondered at this odd-sounding name, but it refers to the sea caves along the face of this bluff, just around the bend http://www.ovenspark.com/why_the_ovens.shtml We'd come here with friends for dinner and a delightful evening of music in a very casual but intimate setting. (Click on "music" in that link if you'd like to see who provides some of the wonderful entertainment.) As I was taking pictures, I overheard Ken telling our friends that we were standing here on the day the Realtor called to say our offer was accepted and we'd just bought a house!
@voiceprintz You've got a wonderful up-coming vacation to look forward to! We saw a lot of the coast of Maine before coming here. I love the many faces of the ocean up here!
This is stunning Louise. I looked at your link, definitely a place to visit. It makes me realise how much I miss a wilder shore. The sea off the Essex Coast curls onto mud flats, or marshes as well as shores where you feel you can walk for ever before being out of your depth. The sea at home (yes I still call it home even though I haven't lived there since 1964) has rock pools and caves and wild waves that make you whoop for joy as you run from, or dive into, them.
Very interesting info .Thanks for the link.
