We went to the exposition today, and here in Nova Scotia, oxen are still used for a lot of heavy labour, but many, I hear, are more likely pampered pets... They're massive but gentle beasts, and this pair captivated me for a long while. He was grooming his pal, much as a cat would...and it just made my heart feel good to see the affectionate bond. With hundreds of photos to pick from, this rose to the top. From this beast of burden we can glean the simple message: Love and care for one another, or, "I am my brother's keeper".
