An Evening Wiled Away ... by Weezilou

An Evening Wiled Away ...

Still working on that speed setting, but I waited until after dark to try it again. I got the numbers correct this time (I'm sneaking up on the project...) there was a lot of noise and the subject matter wasn't all that interesting... Instead of making "good" better" on some other picture, I was obsessed with making "bad" "acceptable"... What I ended up with is reminiscent of pencil sketches back in art classes. Personally, I'm liking it. Don't know what I'd "do" with it...not "card" material nor something to frame... Still, it was delightfully wonderful to have an hour "to call my own and play" this evening...
I love the overall grungy effect Louise. It's so nice to get some time to play, isn't it?! Still trying to work out what you used for this photograph - bells, beads, buttons?

@jamibann I'll have to swear you to secrecy so everyone doesn't laugh at me... I still have a pedestal glass bowl filled with old-fashioned glass ornaments on the dining table... A little candle light...a little wine and I was drawn to the reflections of the chandelier hanging above them... Voila! Not your typical "Merry Christmas" image! I should say I didn't use a grunge filter, either. The picture was dark and then I made it monochrome. All I did was use one "scratched" texture...turned the picture and applied it again...that was it... Thanks for the like!

@Weezilou Ha ha, thanks for the explanation!

I'm glad you had fun. There is always something to learn by just playing.

@mzzhope THANKS, Hope! Both funny and interesting to me that this was seen as a grunge application. (It wasn't) It's reminiscent (to me) of the hours I used to spend pencil sketching to come away with something approaching this look!

I've cheated and read what the subject is here but I have to say, it looks like ice to me. You've captured frozen air bubbles and that's the story I'm going with. It's good to hear you had fun doing this, isn't that what's it all about!

I really like this. And I agree, it reminds me of all those pencil sketching exercises in art school. You would have gotten an 'A' on this one!

And again. Also a fav.

Love it! Not a big fan of grunge music, but I do like the use of a grunge filter on a B&W photo!

Love all the patterns and textures!

@merteskid Thanks, Jo! The ceiling light reflected in Christmas ornaments, still out on the table (shame on me...)! The light was low, so I ended up with a metallic, monochrome photo...and some added "scratchy" textures...

I like it! It does remind me of a pencil sketch. I'd frame it in a really big frame with a super wide mat, so that it draws the viewer in close to see the texture.

@timandelke Thanks so much Elke! I seldom think in the large scale, but I can see what you mean about "big frame/super wide mat"... I can visualize it in a modern home with splashes of red in the decorating scheme! Thanks for catapulting this forward...
