A Very Funny Scenario Unfolded!

As Ken and I arose especially early to drive to San Diego for the 365er Meet-up, we encountered a sight we'd never seen in this yard before.
1. Ken called me to come see the ducks who were where the pink dot is. I looked at him and said, "Not ducks...THAT's a raccoon!" In the time it took him to go around the corner to announce the duck arrival, Yet-Unnamed Raccoon sidled in to partake of the breakfast. Before I could get the camera, the ducks decided to leave the presence of the egg-sucking raccoon of their nightmares.

2. Having finished the first plate of food, Y-U R raises to his full height and heads toward Doppelganger ("Dop") who stands his ground...

3. Using the time-tested passive-aggressive raccoon side step, Y-U R gently body slams Dop out of the way.

4. Dop: "Mom? Help? Are you going to let him get away with that?"

5. Seeing that Mom is busy recording the event with that annoying black box, Dop returns to the next plate down the line...

6. ...and once again the hierarchy gets a readjustment, Y-U R has found an accepting home and will likely continue to make his presence known in the weeks ahead.

Dop says: "There goes my breakfast..."
What a dominating raccoon. He will return where he knows there is food but he did give you a great photo opportunity

@kelly2 I enjoy leaving food for the animals because there always IS an opportunity! I only wish the Mallards had stayed just a minute longer!

How fun for you. Not so much for Dop. Like the collage, it tells the story well.

Lovely shots and a beautiful use of a selectic color

@pyrrhula Funny that you noticed that, Ferry! I thought my photos looked like they had selective color, too! When I first saw them, I thought something was wrong with my camera and they were all in Black and White! It's because it was so early, the sun was hardly up, and I was taking photos from inside! I realized, too, I didn't do a thing with any of those photos...all SOOC. The might have been better, but it was for the fun of sharing the story and not to win any award!

@aglennc In our own yard... nothing seems to deter them if there's food out there on a plate!

An amazing series of captures! So pleased you were able to capture this - and I love your commentary. Dop is so more like my Jack every day! A few years ago Jack stood up to 2 foxes and won the stand off. Fav
