It just struck me that this image is quite like my stand-off image with Tigger and Posh, but I've got my camera in the lizard's face! I kept getting closer and closer and could see he was just a youngster. I thought to put my finger next to him as a size reference, but that was the final straw! He didn't rush off, but turned around, and over the wall he went!
If all you see is "a brown lizard", he had colors on him that I loved! "Ashes-of-Roses Pink", "Sage Green" and pale yellow along with a beautiful buff beige. Nothing in this world is "ordinary"...it's all perception!
I love lizards! When I used to live in Southern Cal as a kid one of my favorite thing to do was wander around searching for lizards and horned toads. And I made sure other kids didn't bother them! Oh, the bravery of youth. I noticed this guy's multi colors right away - he's a beauty!
@lyndemc Oh Denise, two of a kind again! Ken laughs as we recall spring break when we met. He and his roommate came down to visit me in Tuscon, and in showing them around (a mission, in this instance), I saw and caught a lizard to show him! He was a Missouri farm boy on his first visit "out west", and I wanted him to see ALL the wonderful sights! And yes, the horny toads were about the cutest ever! Thanks SO much for your enthusiastic response!
Absolutely love your pov here! Perfect! So awesome that he let you get so close! That eye says it all . . . as your title states . . . Hold It Right There, Missy!!! :-)
Now this is an experience I have never had being face to face with a lizard! I suppose it's too cold over here in the U.K.? He does look cute with beautiful colours. Love the way he is eye balling you! Fav!
@pamknowler No lizards in NS...they're desert dwellers. We always had them in Arizona, and I find them both beautiful and fascinating. You'd never fear to be bitten by one like this. Our yard seems full of them, which is a very healthy thing for the yard! We welcome them! And oh yes...my lens was no more than 5 " from him. I had to be careful to not get my shadow in the picture!
wonderful shot and I love how he's looking at your. One has to be careful of our blue tongue lizards as they can latch on to your finger and not want to let go!
I'm not a lizard enthusiast, but they are interesting creatures. When they appear around our yard, the dogs end up chasing them up the walls of th fence or house. They (the dogs) love the chase.
