From our first day in Costa Rica at an animal sanctuary, this was one of my favorite photos of this gorgeous hawk...I couldn't get over how amazing his (hooded) eyes were!
I can't begin to name all the animals the zoo had...no big African game-type-zoo, but animals that had been injured or rescued. Birds, hawks and owls of every sort, a jaguar, ocelot, puma, cotamundi, taiper, lots of monkeys, wild iguanas that strolled through, and even some squirrels, but they were so fast, they weren't my best photos! (I'll post a picture of Ken having a chat with an iguana blocking the sidewalk!)
It couldn't have been more humid & sweltering...at 2 we began to hear rolling thunder! I was willing to risk getting rained on, so we pushed on for another hour before buying some local trinkets and calling Uber. As we got in the car, the sky opened up!
We're staying at a wonderful hotel that is all open concept and reminds me of Hawaii! The food is fabulous...lots of my favorites...papaya and platanos (caramelized bananas) and black beans and rice to go with eggs in the morning. Coming back tonight, there was a dinner buffet that was excellent.
We hate to have to leave here in the (early) morning (after breakfast-I'll have all that again!) but we'd return here in a minute!
Beautiful capture Louise! So glad you had the opportunity to go. I understand the humidity. It was the same way on our Mexico vacation. I was a dripping hot mess the whole time. Looking forward to more of your vacation shots!
@taffy is right -- this sounds intriguing. One of my favorite photo memories was of a toucan flying overhead, and swinging my camera around quickly to capture it in the corner of the frame.
Your hotel sounds quite nice! Glad you are having a good time so far! :)
