I see all the comments on others' photos about how they can't catch the hummers sitting still. While not a problem, the opposite happens to me. I sat with my coffee & cameras for an hour this morning (after the male had stopped by, but I wasn't prepared.) So here sat Lilliput...on a twig...on the rabbit's ear...and on the other side of the pool where I could see her watching me! I got a lot of still pictures, but not many at the feeder.
And then, as I was shooting her photo, she took off! I got it! I especially like this because you can see how absolutely tiny they are! And if you catch it (in one frame), yes, she left her calling card as she dashed off! I hope you'll like this one because for me, it's what I'd always hoped to get to share with those who've never witnessed a hummingbird in flight!
@pyrrhula Ferry,of everyone, I'm SO GLAD you can see here how tiny they are! They would look so sweet among your Bonsai trees! You have probably seen other videos of them, but this one is *mine* and in my yard : ) For my birthday 12 or 15 years ago, a friend gave me one small Hertshoornvaren/Stag-horn fern. Ken has cut it apart and made many more on boards, we now also give them away, and I think we must have about 15 large ones in the yard...they're hanging everywhere!
@louannwarren why yes, I do! Couldn't be easier, and one can become quickly addicted to them! ...HAVE to tell you...did I have a laugh when I came downstairs this morning! THERE was a turquoise envelope with the packages from my friends! I said, "You Remembered the card from Lou Ann!!!" and like it was a no-brainer, he replied, "You told me to..." Haven't opened anything yet...waiting for the boys who have been busy in my art room all morning! But I thought you'd probably be as amazed as I was! (Looking forward to hearing about your birthday trip!)
Thank you for entering the challenge!
