"Normally", I don't post many food photos, but desperate for anything at present... Our son-in-law gave our kitchen the name, meaning, "Papa's Kitchen", because he makes delicious breakfasts for the grandsons when they visit.
He spent a little time preparing for this delicious meal, and the only change I'd make is to add come water chestnuts to it for more texture. It was cooked in an Instant Pot...one of my favorite new kitchen tools...because Ken uses it so well!
@louannwarren yep...agreed! When I saw a sweet and sour recipe, I knew immediately we needed to add some pineapple to the shopping list...we're now prepared for more...x4!
@pyrrhula@danette Glad you enjoyed the China...I should have made that my 30-day project! "Back in the day" I had an addiction to buying different china patterns on eBay...typically not full sets, and never paid more than $1 for a large plate/less for smaller. My girls don't want it, so we're enjoying using it all in the here and now just for the pleasure of it...and we put it in the dishwasher!
@Weezilou we use China everyday, too. I think it would be fun to have a mix of patterns. We used to have a “tea” at church where each table was decorated differently. It was so fun.
@danette I think that may have been a trend Martha Stewart began... I began then to be less intimidated about not having "service for 12"...hahaha! I love my mix of patterns...sometimes only two plates...sometimes place settings for 3 or 4! The few times I've had more people over, I love mixing it up! I enjoy knowing that you do this, too!
@golftragic The first time I heard about the instant pot, I was pretty sure I had to have one. In simplest terms, it's a pressure cooker...but not like your mother's noisy pressure cooker! Most of them can also be set to be used as a slow cooker...leave the meal cooking for the day...but we haven't done that. With the purchase of a 7" pan for this purpose, I've made cheese cakes that are amazing, and you can make steamed vegetables, eggs and yoghurt. We've made baked apples, soups, stroganoff and the most delicious pulled pork...in a fraction of the time it used to take Ken to make it. Look them up on Pinterest and you can get lots of feedback, and so many delicious recipes, you'll need never buy a cookbook. I think Australia has a store called Woolworths... If they carry a wide array of kitchen appliances, you'll likely find a few choices there. If you still have my address, email me and I'll send you any more info and recipes if you'll tell me something you'd really like to make... While I loved it, Ken really fell in love with it for the ease of preparing a very tasty meal!
@Weezilou Our dayly plates are also used ones. Handmade pottery of a famous, not existed enymore, pottery . We`ve china ones for the Sunday and a whole china dinner set for special occasions. ( Christmas.)
