That's Great-Grandfather Gifford hosting the camera club at the turn of the (last) century. [false] Actually, my grandmother would have been about the right age to be that young girl, and I own my grandmother's twin-lens reflex that she took on her travels. [true]
This really *is* the SCC...I bought the photo at an antiquarian book fair many many years ago. I knew it was a cool find back then, but I grow to love it more all the time! [also true]
@cathrinemitch Oh Catherine, I didn't realize how this hoax might be taken for fact! Mike Gifford @mikegifford is hosting a "Make Me Over" thread, so this is a part of a group I put together for him today. All three of my albums today have pictures for the challenge. Sorry to have mislead you... I was just caught up in the story-telling! (I'll add Mike's link to the photo!)
@pyrrhula Hi Ferry :) While the original photo hangs in my art room, it's scanned and I added the face of Mike Gifford to the front & center...see the link to the thread to "make him over"... I did the same in the other old photo and then put together the "Family Tree" photo (that doesn't show the b&W images well enough. It took time to do, but I really had fun with it!
@digitalrn haha...worked his image and that of the original man side by side for size and lighting, hair & mustache... never worked with a challenge like this before, so it was fun! (Mike's face is also in the other old photo).
@pyrrhula I thought you might like to have a further explanation of the challenge! How I wish my father were alive today! He would have LOVED all the technology we have! He was the consummate engineer and loved to purchase every new gadget! Who knows what lies ahead in the years to come, but I know I wouldn't have time for one more shred of technology at the present!
