Of course there's a story behind this... We had plans to meet our friends, Brian & Marilyn for dinner at a favorite restaurant, Il Fornaio. Arriving early, we ordered a drink and appetizer (carpaccio) and chatted with the bartender. (As in the 100 Strangers project, his name is Oswaldo and he was from Mexico City, married for 10 years) I told him we were celebrating 45 years tomorrow & asked if he'd take a photo of us. I guess he liked my camera, because he took about 10 pictures! He was instructing us "Sit closer together...", so I gave Ken a buss on the cheek, and he caught it! I love this moment and what an excellent picture he took! We placed another drink order, and went back to chatting, and when he returns, he has two glasses of champagne for us! Now is that not awesome?! When our friends arrived, he took us and our drinks to the table (where we had a truly fabulous dinner!). And before we left, Ken went over to thank him again. (I got his server number and we'll let his manager know how nicely he treated us.) He certainly made us happy and I intend to see that he's happy as well!
First of all, I wish you both a Happy 45th Anniversary! How wonderful to have a bartender/server help make your evening extra special. That's the cutest photo of you two.
@cimes1@panthora I love to see the two of you here "at the party!" Thank you both for the sweet comments...they really bring a smile to my face. I had to laugh when you, Carole, first arrived as it must be even-more-the-middle-of-the-night there in FL than it is here for Osia and me at (ahem) 1 AM! What a bunch of night owls we are! As for me, I'm folding for the night as we're meeting our dinner companions at a farmer's market/fair or some sort in the morning...later... Good night! xo
45 years - well done! What a great photo with such a sweet story attached to it. It's so heartening to see people still in love after all these years - well done! What a great example to set for your children. We are just over 34 years, thank heavens I found my soulmate too!
A great photo Louise, and when you get service like that it means so much. You can tell when someone likes what they are doing. Grant it they know it pays to make customers happy and to go out of the way to treat them well, but underneath that lies the fact that some just enjoy it in spite of everything else. That comes through. Happy Anniversary to the two of you and many more glorious years ahead.
Happy belated Anniversary. You could not have asked for a better service experience. I really appreciate when servers go out of their way to may your evening special and he sounds like some one who should be recognized! He seems to be quite a photographer as well...this is a great shot!
Congratulations to you both and thank you for sharing .
