(The Face is Aging, but) ... The Eyes Still See Clearly
Heading out on photo shoots provide a day for feasting, a spilling cornucopia of exotic delights and unexpected treats. When the sun broke through, we set out for errands, but allowed time to make detours and revisit old haunts. This barn featured in my July 4th photo when I came across the American Flag off a Canadian road http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2014-07-06
Once again, John was there and remembered our visit exactly 4 months before! He and Ken chatted while I got some photos, this, my favourite, because the HDR brought out the wonderfully weathered wood in those lovely aged colours. By contrast, the reflection in the old glass shows a view stretching far to the north. The storm clouds have passed...
@hbdaly Well cool...Richard does wonderful photography! I started to say, "You've got to see this @chard", but I see you let him know :) (If it were his, it would have a flat-topped mountain reflected!...but don't you love that wonderful old chippy paint?!)
Chipped paint, reflections and big sky - how could you go wrong?! :) Besides, I'm going to need your warm sunny CA. Pictures to get me through the winter!
@hbdaly I'll hold the thought... ...squirrel...ducks...same back yard...day in and day out... I suppose we'll need one another's company over the winter...you'll be the closest I have to "Lunenburg"!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick... You have no idea how nice that is to read, and the timeliness of that comment! For 3 years, I've been asked to put my photos in the Lunenburg Art Gallery, but I never felt my work was comparatively good enough to join the others there. Tomorrow I'm meeting with the lady who's been asking me, to show her some of my selections, and let her help me select some to have framed... The gallery re-opens in March and they want some to hang before I return. I'll have nothing to report for awhile, of course, but to say that "I see what others will enjoy" was like the hug I needed to give me some confidence. Thank you...
I love everything about this photo Louise!! There is something about it that really speaks to me from the chipped colorful paint in the frame to the wonderfully reflected "picture" in the window.....it is truly exquisite!! I would not mind having this hanging at my house! So glad you are getting your work in to the gallery!
BTW, I just got my new camera, and I am so excited as it has the in-camera HDR feature, and I cannot wait to start using it. Are you doing in-camera HDR, or using software like Photomatix to blend them? This one is very well done...
