When Ken and I drove into Lahaina this morning, we found it even more packed with tourists as NCL's ship was docked out in the water. (Ken and I took that cruise once, and hands down, it was the worst cruise ever...let me count the ways!) Given that, we headed a few blocks inland, and decided to have a walk through an 1826 cemetery...it was fascinating, and in so many ways, spoke of "small community" and "family lineage". I loved the images I captured there. Next we drove north and turned down a side street (exploring) and came across a "Jodo Mission" which I believe was a Buddhist Temple grounds. In the midst was an immense Buddha, 15' tall or more at least! After photographing it from several angles, it was the hands that resonated with me. In all, it was an excellent day that was filled, but with space for some quiet time.
Tomorrow morning we're going to a couple of local craft fairs... I love them... Ken could happily live without them... He's one of the good guys and is going to go early with me. If I'm true to form, I'll think I've done it all, return home, and later think I need to go check it again... (Could be why he hates them...)
