A Night at the Opera ... by Weezilou

A Night at the Opera ...

The Lunenburg Academy, site of the opera and classical-music events to come. It's not downtown Los Angeles and it didn't take 45 minutes to get out of the parking garage after the show!

This, another quick snap from the car as we were leaving! I asked my friend to pause a moment, and he wondered that I might not already have a lot of photos of this venue. OK, yes, but not at night with the lights on inside... (Non-photographers don't understand these things!)

(How understandablel that this is on the National Historic Registry here in this UNESCO town of Lunenburg!)
WOW! it takes on a different personality when it's all lit up at night. it looks fabulous! how can i not fav it? :-)

What cultured people you are. Along with Nova your pictures tell me Nova Scotia would suite me fine as a holiday destination....

@jack4john *We like to think of ourselves as cultured* ;) There's certainly music enough here to suit anyone, and the Scottish and Irish have greatly influenced this province! That said, it's because of the English way of laying out the town grid that Lunenburg is a designated UNESCO site. You once asked about the music here, and I've posted a lot on youtube if you care to have a listen. Just drop the name "Weezilou" into the search and it will bring up most-if-not all of it. While not professional, I like to think it's not awful either!

looks a wonderful building. How lucky you are to have such a great place for opera. Do you spend half your time up in Lunenberg or just visit down south from time to time. It looks a wonderful part of the world

there is something quite magical about it at night.

@cruiser I read your note in my email this morning & am not looking at my site. I had to look for who it was who asked this question! "Actual Home" is southern California for the past 40+ years and we're Americans. We "discovered" NS about 16 years ago and bought a house 15 years ago. We can only stay here 6 mo of each year, but we like to be back to see the grand kids primarily. Since Ken retired 8 years ago, we have plenty we enjoy doing/places to go, so the time passes fast. Honestly, Lunenburg is where our hearts are now. We love this town and our friends here. As in my caption above, life is so much simpler, and far less crazy! We always hate to leave & can't wait to return! It IS an amazingly beautiful place to live! I can't go three steps without seeing something I want to photograph!

@Weezilou lovely to hear of your life in both places. I have Googled Lunenburg and it certainly looks a great place. I can understand how hard it must be to leave but being able to get back to spend a large chunk of time with your grandkids must be great too. We have a 2 year old grandson in London who we see every week on Skype but its not like getting a cuddle from him and our other Grandson is 20 and they live in Melbourne which is a 9 hour drive from here in Adelaide.
