A "So NOT Southern California!" Moment by Weezilou

A "So NOT Southern California!" Moment

Mid-afternoon on a gorgeous day I want to go for a ride to photograph the beautiful clouds. From our home in the heart of town, we drive three (ok, maybe four) minutes away, cross the "highway", up a hill overlooking the back of town and see this view in the opposite direction.

No traffic. No noise. No crowds. No waiting in line. Tranquility. Lots and lots of tranquility. I came home and played with the watercolour technique on this photo. That was tranquil as well ...
There seems to be such a contrast in Lunenburg and the way you describe California! No wonder you choose to spend the summer there. Are you ever tempted to stay all year or is the winter weather too extreme in Nova,Scotia? Lovely meadow scene and view! I can see why you love it there!

@pamknowler These two places are the polar opposite of one another! As Americans, we can only stay in Canada 6 mo without getting into some sort of tax issue. It's the same for Canadians wintering in the states!) It *could* be done, but our girls want us to return and spend time with the grands. Around November, we get a call from Ashley saying, "Don't you think you've been away long enough?" Nothing like turning the tables and the kids start telling us what they want us to do!

@Weezilou you seem to have the best of both worlds! I can understand your girls wanting to see you though plus spending time with your beautiful grandkids! Lucky lady it sounds like the perfect solution!

@pamknowler ...it's bearable ; ) Perhaps in the next 12 months we can sample them both together!

BTW, winter here on the South Shore is typically not wretched...the Gulf Stream is not far off shore and keeps it temperate. (It also can bring hurricanes this far north!) The coldest weather is across the peninsula and across from Maine which has very cold winters.

@francoise Inter*states* are in the lower 48 teacher!

haha...thanks Francoise! Isn't it lovely to still have large expanses of greenery and not a car in sight?! I'm trying to think of something comparable in SoCal and I'm hard pressed to come up with a location!

Lovely view, what a life-style, though I couldn't handle the traffic in California or the winters in Nova Scotia.
