As Ken was corralling the boys to the car, I made my escape for "just a few more photos"! How could I not? This cobalt-and-azure beauty sat alongside a red MaCaw and I did hold things up while I got some "easy photos" of the gorgeous birds! I'd love to return there tomorrow, but there are so many other places I'd also like to visit...
I am laughing at your story as I can hear Ken's voice telling you to "hurry up Louise"!! So pleased you escaped for this photo!! What fabulous colours!!
Rosie and I are going to the zoo in Chicago in April so I am hoping to get some colourful shots like this. I do hope the flamingos are out!! LOL!! Fav!
What a fabulous colour Louise. You've really cheered up my morning. I'm sitting at Siobhan's waiting for the engineers to dismantle and remove the stair lift. This shot and the image @giggiflower put in my brain have cheered me up! Thank you.
He's a magnificent bird! Yes, we who carry cameras are a pain to our families, aren't we? Many a time I've been the reason my gang sigh and tap their toes in boredom as I get "just one more shot"!
@louannwarren I was wondering if this was the "Indigo" that some will be looking for when they post their complete rainbow! (I'm not doing it, but I seem to have no trouble with "blue"!) I googled "Indigo" and got a nice color range chart for the blues and purples, and that's how I came up with "Cobalt and azure"! They were a match! And to think the general populace only sees "blue" ; )
The blue macaws are just amazing and you got a great view of this one. Brings back very bad memories of one that was my next door neighbor at one time though. Now I'm in a bad mood. Thanks for that!
@joysfocus@stray_shooter One in Hawaii grabbed my index finger and bit deep on the side of the nail bed... Let me tell you, "Blood and Pain"! While I don't plan to stroke the head of another one, I got over it and now I'll only steal their sacred images!
Macaws are such beautiful colours - I remember many many moons ago I cradled a hand-raised one like a baby in my arms - he was gorgeous - to take him home with me would have cost $18,000
@Weezilou I've collected cobalt glass for years, just the color of this beautiful bird. Add some deep purple to that color and you have the mysterious "indigo", at least in my eyes!
@annied I know they were pretty likely "expensive", but I wouldn't have guessed THAT! Wow! How fabulous to have such a sweet "baby", though! It would be divine to have such a silky coated bird to stroke! Talk about therapeutic!
@louannwarren I'm quite sure you'd be correct about that "Mysterious Indigo"! When at a loss for the photo, a trip to the art store might yield just what one is looking for!
@Weezilou that price was over 20 years ago...unlike most things the price has come down...around $6000 - $10000 now I think depending on type...they are more readily available than they were back then
beautiful birds very intelligent
