When I was asked "What is a Woody Car Club" I realized that many in other countries (and much younger than me!) might not know about these gems!
If you can see in the bottom rt photo, the car in the center with the back hatch up, it had a sign that read:
1941 Plymouth
_Pre-War P-12 Special Deluxe Wagon (8-passenger model)
_5,594 Produced - One of less than 200 known to exist
_White Ash and Maple body by U.S. Body & Forging - Rare Wood FLoor Construction
_201.3 CID Inline 6-cylinder rated @ 87 h.p. (I hope that makes sense to someone!)
_Wheelbase: 117 "
Length: 196.8 "
Weight: 3.400 #
_Manufactured in Detroit
I'm glad to see the few left are being nurtured. In this day and age I wouldn't dream of taking one near the freeway!
Oh they are beautiful! I would love to drive one! Wow how amazing to have a wooden floor! Not sure how one would stand up to a crash? I would definitely keep away from the freeway. Looks like a great gathering and so interesting! Thanks for sharing! Love your processing here! Fav!
That's a nice collection of photos. As a very young boy in Connecticut, my first recollection of a woody was of the one that the "egg man" used to drive when he would deliver eggs to the house. I think he must have been one of a dying breed.
Great shots of those beautiful oldie.
( I `ve to drive +/- 40 min. to get to the tulipfield area. ) And I asked a farmer to day. They stay blooming for an other 14 days . Then the heads will be cut off.
