Decay

Another one from my trip to the Lake District last year. This was taken in one of the workshops of the Threlkeld Mining Museum, which contains some wonderfully old machinery.

Despite almost all of it looking like this, the vast majority is kept in working order by the museum volunteers. The workshop was a great place to take abstract photos like this on a rainy day.

Lit using natural light only -- it was a very dull day already, and the workshop did not let much light in, hence the 2.5 second exposure.

This definitely benefits from being viewed large.
Fascinating photo!

Love the textures. The clarity of the chain is remarkable - it feels almost 3D (in a good way... ). :)

I really like the detail and the way you've composed this specific part of the machinery to give a real feeling for the textures and the peeling paint
