Apologies for my lack of posts for a couple of weeks -- I've been rather busy, and Vancouver has been in a fairly constant state of overcast and rainy weather (which unfortunately doesn't look like it's going anywhere for a while!)
When we had a clear evening, I grabbed the chance to get out and take some shots. This photo was taken outside the Bridges restaurant on Granville Island. I really liked the strings of lights over this open area outside the restaurant, and wanted to capture those, the restaurant and the city across the water.
After trying a few shots I decided that I really needed a wider image than I could fit into a single shot to get the composition I wanted, so this is a four shot vertical panorama. On the left of the photo is the Burrard Bridge, with the some of the West End buildings beyond. On the right is the restaurant, with a stunning view across the water.
The clear weather brought with it a cold and quite strong wind -- by the time I'd finished taking this series of shots I was quite cold!

A stunning composition Alexei! You have such a great eye! This shot was well worth getting cold for! Wrap up warm as there's much colder weather on the way! Wonderful capture - Fav!
That is pretty amazing Alexis!! I was trying to figure out what kind of wide angle lens you used to give you that distortion when I read your description, and I am pretty impressed at how you managed to get so much into one shot! Really deserves to be viewed large....
Another stunner. fav. I particularly like the curved lines on the right and the balance of the different sides of the shot. Glad you got a break in the weather. I sure know the feeling!
Fabulous, as ever and, as ever, I am amazed by your technical and photographic brilliance. Hope you got some hot food when you arrived home after this photoshoot!
