Square-September #17

The Melbourne Fringe Festival is in full swing. This is an installation called Display Lyfe and 2 girls are in this shopfront window for 1 week. They only have social media to communicate and survive. They went in with no supplies and it was up to the public to donate food, clothes and whatever else needed. After only a couple of days they were inundated with supplies so they were talking (or texting) about donating the goods to charities.
The concept explores how social media "celebrities" live life and survive through a screen by promoting brands to earn their cashflow, starting trends and getting free gifts.
I felt very self-conscious standing in front of them taking their photo and then I realised if they are sitting in a window for a week, they are not shy!
They would be expecting the photos! But I hope they do have a bed to sleep in!

@adayinmallacoota ha, ha. Once I had a TP but it disappeared while I was having an 'arvo nap. So I could not enjoy the pride moment.
