There is a small prairie dog town just southwest of the house and that is where the burrowing owls live, so I thought I would spend the hour before sunset quietly sitting and catch them in good light. Wrong! The prairie dogs barked out their warning, the burrowing owls flew off into the neighboring cornfield, and I was left to enjoy the quiet of the evening alone. They won the waiting game, as I lost the light, but I did find this interesting fencepost. I will return!
Very pretty silhouette! The lights give it a fun shape! And of course the sun with the rays is awesome. I do notice some spots though. Are they insects or dust on the lens? Or possibly sensor dust?
P.S. You could possibly be getting the specks on the shot from sensor dust, easy enough to clean but easily seen at f32...which is why I always shoot around 5.6 because i'm too lazy to clean ;)
@graemestevens Thanks ... Like you I usually shoot wide open so I've never noticed spots. Shut it down tonight to get the burst. I've tried blowing off the sensor. Couldn't really see anything there, but hopefully that helps. If not I'll just keep stick with wider apertures.
Great shot....wonderful sun flare! You know something, I had to clean my monitor screen before saying anything, but I see a lot of spots on your shots....your lens or your sensor might be dirty, hopefully the former, which would be easy to clean....much better than having to get rid of them in post processing! I actually have a spot that shows up in the lighter areas of my shots that I take with my 24-70 lens despite all my cleaning, so I think I might have a tiny scratch, and it drives me crazy everytime I see it when I upload my photos.
@panthora The spots are so irritating! I didn't notice them until after I uploaded. I cleaned the lens, and then cleaned the sensor, but I just blew it out. I really couldn't see anything on it. I haven't tried another shot closed down like that, so I don't know if I accomplished anything or not. I'm thinking maybe I'll be like Graeme and just shoot wide open all the time. ;-)
