milkweed bug

FBailey challenged me to take a reverse lens macro shot. I've always wanted to try this and was surprised at how difficult it was for me. I tried my 35mm .... no ... my wide angle ... Definitely not. Went to my trusty 50mm, and then struggled for several days trying to get a somewhat focused shot. This was a last ditch effort just as the sun was dropping below the horizon. I'd been out earlier, but got rained out. Interesting, but not a technique I am very good at.
FBailey @fbailey ... The weather wasn't cooperative for the moon, so I tried the reverse lens macro. My that's hard!!! Here's my best attempt.

Fav for 2 things, Courage to try such a neat technique and execution. This macro is simply just so cool. This is a 'out there' idea and will have to try.

@adi314 Simple in concept, but not in execution, at least for me. I don't have a reversing ring, so it was a bit like free lensing, only you turn the lens around and shoot. You can't auto focus or change aperture, so I set my aperture, removed the lens, turned it around, and held it against the camera. Focusing was by "move forward, move back." Lots of trial and error!
