This tree stands alone in a dryland field. Our neighbor explained that when she was a little girl her father repeatedly planted trees in their yard, none of which ever survived. This tree, along with three others sprinkled about, grew in the old buffalo wallows and even though he eventually farmed these fields, he left the trees because they grew when so many others had not.
