Laura challenged me to do a high key, so when I woke up to heavy frost and gray skies I thought I'd see what I could do with all that white and gray. It was also quite cold (single digits) so there wasn't much activity. I tried a variety of things, but finally settled on a small gathering of sparrows high in the trees. My histogram was clear to the right, with just a thin line touching the black on the left, so I think I got the high key. Kind of wish I'd had a different subject, but I suspect the weather this week might provide more natural light/high key type opportunities. We'll see ...
Laura @la_photographic My first attempt at a high key image. I took advantage of the frosty, gray day and made sure to check my histogram. Might have to have another try later in the week.
I love sparrows! Always reminds me of the song of "Simon and Garfunkel"
Who will love a little Sparrow?
Who's traveled far and cries for rest?
"Not I, " said the Oak Tree,
"I won't share my branches with
No sparrow's nest,
And my blanket of leaves won't warm
Her cold breast."
Who will love a little Sparrow
And who will speak a kindly word?
"Not I, " said the Swan,
"The entire idea is utterly absurd,
I'd be laughed at and scorned if the
Other Swans heard."
Who will take pity in his heart,
And who will feed a starving sparrow?
"Not I, " said the Golden Wheat,
"I would if I could but I cannot I know,
I need all my grain to prosper and grow."
Who will love a little Sparrow?
Will no one write her eulogy?
"I will, " said the Earth,
"For all I've created returns unto me,
From dust were ye made and dust ye shall be."
