This little bird caught my eye as its flight pattern was not one I recognized. It is a plumbeous vireo. I'm not sure if it is migrating through, or if this pair have changed their breeding range, but they are a primarily found in the Southern Rocky Mountains, though their map does show a small breeding range in the Black Hills of South Dakota, which lie a few hundred miles north of us. I know there continue to be doubters of climate change, but the changing migration and breeding patterns I've begun to see, along with a shift in growing seasons and severity of weather indicate to me that our climate is definitely shifting. For better or worse, I don't know. Hopefully our farming practices and local wildlife will adapt, while welcoming any and all newcomers as they explore our ecosystem.
Well done!
