After seeing Taffy and Jane using a wide angle for their comet images I went out late and set up my wide angle lens. It is a much better astrophotography lens with its shorter barrel and sharper focus. I still could not actually see the comet (darn old eyes and glasses), but I aimed in the general direction and tried to follow what Taffy and Jane used for settings. Not much for a foreground, but a sharper comet. I may try a few more times, but I'm rapidly reaching the conclusion that, for me, this will be best enjoyed viewing through binoculars or a telescope while putting away my camera.
Fyi, I shot with both a wa and an 85mm...both with the widest apertures that I have. If the marine layer gives me another opportunity I will try my 50 mm or 35 primes with f 1.8 options. I’ll have to use shorter shutter time than the wa to avoid stars with tails
