Eldest spent the past few months clearing out dead trees in the windbreaks. Naturally, some old woodpecker holes were felled, though we didn't realize it until the trees were down. This flicker was busy today in one of the remaining dead trees drilling out a new home. I don't believe flickers winter here, as our winters can be very harsh. I'm not sure if this is his winter home, or if he's just getting it ready for next spring. I'll be watching!
