We visited the creek. Sure enough, the cottonwoods are nearly all turned. But ... it's very windy and the ash trees are losing their leaves. Even more disappointing, the plum and chokecherry bushes have all dropped the reds they were wearing just a week ago. My compositions weren't great last week, but I'm really glad I caught some of those reds. It is disappointing not to have the dense and brilliant display of autumn colors that were here last year. However, it is still pretty and here and there along the slopes there are some ash trees holding their leaves, putting on a rather splendid individual display of vibrant yellows.
