This was the photo I came for. I love the spread of the wings. I love the flared tail. He's head down, violet air sac filled, and full into posture. It's strange how subjective photography is, though, as this one is not favored by youngest. Why? The eyes. She likes the eye contact in the other photos. It's always so hard to tell what image resonates, but I think it's this shot that's keeping me from another pre-dawn trip to the lek next week.
