December 7th -- Remembering Pearl Harbor

This gentleman is Ray Chavez, 105 years old and the oldest Pearl Harbor survivor. He is back at Pearl Harbor today, December 7th, for ceremonies at the USS Arizona. He has traveled back to Hawaii each of the last five December 7ths for the annual ceremonies. In May of this year he rode on the Pearl Harbor survivors float in the annual Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C.. He is one of 18 Pearl Harbor survivors living in the San Diego, California area. There are less than 2,000 still alive

A good friend of ours gave John and me the honor and incredible experience of meeting Ray Chavez and several other men who fought at Pearl Harbor at the monthly luncheon meeting of their Pearl Harbor Survivors group earlier this year.
oh my how great! God bless him!

@susiemc @gijsje He is absolutely amazing. At almost 106, he is still very much involved in the local Pearl Harbor Survivors group, , very alert, still speaks regularly at various functions, school groups, etc., and enjoys returning to Pearl Harbor every year. @777margo @dmcoile @jackies365
