Sometimes I just like details and somehow I was intrigued by the contrast of shadow and form here. I never quite got the image I was after, but it's late (way too late) so I quit trying. Maybe next time...
(Possibly better on black.)
Thank you all for your comments, faves and follows--They keep me motivated! Cheers
This photo is an interesting starting material. The representationalism is receding and becomes increasingly "abstract" - in this case a play with chiaroscuro, sharp-blurry, straight-curved, directions, proportions and textures. I like this game and this kind of perceiving and shaping. This is where the actual pictorial seeing and creating begins.
I feel the same way that there is often too little time for this engagement with a picture. Sometimes I would like to try endlessly.
It would be nice if there were more intensive disclosure of such encounter processes when taking pictures and subsequent editing on this platform. I think there is a lot to learn and a mutual exchange at this level could be very productive.
I like this and it does have possibilities to revisit from a different PoV. I also like the suggestion from @jerome. It could be a tag that alerts the viewer that is a more detailed explanation with a particular post, maybe 'how this was done'. Just a thought.
@jerome I agree. Unfortunately this forum doesn't always lend itself to such intensive discussion as there are simply too many images to evaluate. I must admit, too, that I seem always just trying to find the time to post, let alone discuss. Sometimes I feel more discussion and fewer photographs might be nice as there are often images I'd like to hear more about the process as to how it was conceived and executed.
I know what you are saying- so many times I "see" something with my eye but the camera just can't get it. I think it may be the difference in the way the eye works and the way the lens works but I'm not tech-savvy enough to know whether or not I'm on the right thought track there. Anyhow! In this shot I find the leaf the most interesting because of the contrast of its wavy shape against the straight edge of the bars. Interesting shot.
And any time you want me to explain further on how I accomplished a picture- pre, during or post capture- feel free to ask!
