PACE

Upon arriving in Italy, I thought it was quite possibly the most gay-friendly country in the world; there were rainbow flags literally everywhere! Then I finally noticed they were each emblazoned with the word "PACE". I suppose the most peace-friendly country in the world is pretty good, too...

The flag was flown from balconies in all Italian cities by citizens against the war, first used in Italy at a peace march in 1961.

Beautiful shot. Love the background for the colorful and meaningful flag. Two of my friends were in the first group of people to be legally married in a same sex marriage in San Francisco. I am glad i live in a tolerant place.
