Huffin' Puffin

Sea excursions are often great for so much more than just whale watching. For instance, I spotted this unexpected beauty from a boat near Monterey, CA and I didn't even know we had Tufted puffins anywhere near us. But, there it was. So. Freakin'. Cool! Upon further research, apparently there were colonies in Southern California several decades ago, but they have since disappeared from that region and this would be by far the furthest south they venture now.

@jyokota @taffy Not sure how wayward it was, but I didn't see any others during that trip. The boat was out of Monterey and if you like sea excursions, I HIGHLY recommend Blue Ocean Whale Watching. You would not be disappointed! (Just let me know if you go, it would be fun to meet up!)
