Took a drive to the countryside with the boys today, had a grand time watching them run like wild thangs, chasing sticks, and playing in the water. We just caught the tail end of the evening light for a pic on the way home.
Great day!

Edit: Upon posting, I notice a more distinct blotchy-ness in the blue sky than I had at first when editing. OOPS! I'm still trying to figure out how to process HDR without getting such bad banding. Much more to learn, obviously...
Beautiful image, have you checked out the Photomatix tutorials on their website? Have you tried changing the smoothing in details enhancer or the tonal range compression settings? Were your images bracketed by 2 stops?
@mssherwood Hi Melanie! I haven't spent time on the tutorials yet, but coincidentally plan to this evening after my posting of the day! I've tried different settings, but to get one part of the image the way I want sometimes doesn't work for the rest of the image. I guess I need to merge two or more different processed files as well?! For most of my HDRs (which aren't many yet) I'm bracketing 3 exposures at 2-stops both ways. It's really fun experimenting at this point at least! :-)
@aikiuser I have mixed results with my HDR it can be tricky depending on the shot. Having cool clouds seem to enhance the effect. Good luck, please share anything you discover with the process.

Thanks, all! Yes, this Central Coast of California is truly temperate pretty much all year long. Not that it doesn't get cold and wet, just not Mid-West or East Coast cold and wet!!
