Meadowlarks truly have a most remarkable warble; very distinctive and quite beautiful! Our Sunday drive wandering on roads previously unexplored by us was also quite remarkable, as so many are. Along with the Meadowlarks, we got close to several large hawks of different varieties, deer all over the place and too numerous to count, dozens of wild turkeys, large flocks of American Goldfinches as well as House Finches (we'd never seen more than about one or two at a time outside our backyard feeder--they were literally hundreds eating seed in some very large areas of dried thistle), a great many Western Bluebirds, and about five tarantulas crossing the road. Unfortunately, the lighting conditions and being in a car made for poor photographs, but what a great day anyway!
You certainly caught him/her in mid-warble. Wonderful detail, I especially like that bit of barbed wire. Another beauty. And what a special, wildlife-filled day you had!
