Victory Stone

This 'Sarsen' stone though ancient itself has only been in place at Bratton Camp since 2000.

The plaques say the stone was erected to 'commemorate the Battle of Ethandun fought in this vicinity in 878AD when King Alfred the Great defeated the Viking army giving birth to the English Nationhood'

Unvealed by the Marquess of Bath 5th November 2000.
