A-Z: Double trouble!

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a pic of the two girls together! Magic has recently escalated her warfare on the camera, deciding that the it is evil and must be attacked whenever it's turned on, even if it is on the other side of the room... Thankfully distraction worked - her favourite toast (or 'sausage sandwich' in Magic-speak) kept her busy just long enough for me to get this snap! I love the scary Phoenix shadow!
(Phoenix is on the left - she's the right-footed one, Magic on the right eating toast, she's left footed).
Yesterday's pic was Phoenix :) Well done lbmcshutter, vernabeth, laurentye, and half-points to jannaellen. Good try everyone else :D
Yeah, half-point ;). Lovely capture of them both!

Nice to see the two girls together :)

They're so beautiful, stunning colours. Do these kind of parrots live for a very long time. I had an uncle way back when who bequeathed his parrot to his kids because it outlived him.

I love how Phoenix is up on one leg watching what you are doing and Magic is just tucking into dinner, the distraction seems to be working well

So much colour. They must brighten a dull day! :)

wonderful color and cut cute birds!

@veekay These girls will probably live for 20-30 years. Cockatoos and Macaws can live for 80+ years if looked after properly.

@lbmcshutter Phoenix is definitely the 'watcher' of the two of them - she's much more sedate and sophisticated, whereas Magic is just exuberant and excited about everything!

is that the only way you can tell them apart - their footedness?? Cool pic of them together.
July 4th, 2011
@buggirl I can tell them apart in person - they have very different personalities and voices, plus Phoenix has a ring on her foot and will sit on my head and run/fly away from hands, while Magic will sit and climb anywhere, including inside my jumper... They both have their favourite perches around the house, and Phoenix is slightly more yellow and sleek while Magic tends to be fluffier and a bit redder. Phoenix is more her own bird, and likes to watch things, while Magic is playful and wants to be involved with everything (makes yoga and ballet practices fun!). They both say different things too - so it's easy for me to tell them apart - not sure about anyone else though (and in pics I'd probably be stuck if I didn't know where they were when the pics were taken). Oops - that answer was a bit longer than I thought it would be!

Oh, Magic has pinker feet too, Phoenix's are darker.

They are more alike than I thought. Both are beautiful. It is amazing that their personalities can be so different.

When being difficult, bribe them with food...I do that. ;) Cute capture.
July 4th, 2011
Oh wow this is so cool :)
July 4th, 2011
Haha oh dear me xD
July 4th, 2011
it's funny about pets and cameras - our dogs both hate having a camera pointed at them and will avert their faces every time. good to see you got the double act caught in the one shot.
July 4th, 2011
great capture of them both - they'll be the size of a house all this coaxing with toast to get pics of them!! LOL
July 4th, 2011
This is so cute! I laughed at your story of getting the shot. I don't know how many bribes I have given my kids to get a photo. :)
July 4th, 2011
