One of my biggest fears is rejection. Even the thought of someone saying that little word 'no' is enough to stop me even considering an idea. I'm working to overcome it, but it's a very slow process. I know that there are many things I've done differently -or even missed out on completely- because I was afraid someone might say 'no' to me. The fear is still there at the moment while I apply for jobs, nagging at me when I look through ads. But I'm making progress, gradually.
On a different note, I'm really excited that my spiky plant pic from 23rd Nov - http://365project.org/alia_801/365/2011-11-23- made it to the pattern theme top 5! I've never had a top pic before, or even dreamed that I ever would. Hoorah!
Nice one. I like the idea of this. I couldn't bring myself to start the challenge as Charlie's b'day is tomorrow, and we've got lots of stuff I wanted to document!!!
This is really a great shot Alia, very crisp focus on "no." And way to go, keep working on that fear. You will overcome it. It sounds like you are making headway.
@izythunder Thanks! I still can't believe I made a theme top 5! I've been bouncing around the house all day :) I hope you enjoy my challenge shots too :)
Very cool presentation of your theme! Great shot! "No" is such a powerful word. I really like saying it to the salesman who knocks on my door to sell me an electrical appliance I have absolutely no need of. Heh.
Oh, I love this! Now I'm rethinking the whole theme-thing. I really want to join, but I have no time to do it in the next couple of days... I think I need to find another theme for this month...
Clever photograph! None of us like the word "No" but as I get older it becomes less intimidating. After all you can't please everyone all the time and if they aren't happy, it's their problem.
This is an excellent representation of your fears. I love book text shots and selective focus and this one has both - yay! Congrats on the top 5 - I didn't realize that was yours - I voted for you:)
this is a great idea for fear. i think rejection is a common one and also difficult. also congrats on the top 5 shot. it was well deserved and i was very happy to see it there (you got my vote!)
I love how you've photographed this. Fear of rejection would be a common fear I'm sure, and it's great that you are working to overcome it. Isn't it amazing that kids don't have that fear but they pick it up somewhere along the way through childhood.
@geertje@maggie2 You can always pick one challenge word each week to have a go at, or just do it when you like - it's up to you how you attack the challenges :) I hope you find one you can fit in - they're so much fun :)
No is a hard word to hear- but if you truly believe in yourself, then no just becames a synonym for "try it another way". Now, I don't know you personally in the physical sense, but artistically, I see a very bright and talented person emerge in your pictures. From the things you've written about school, I also see a very dedicated person. So what employer would not want that in his/her business? Don't stop yourself from sending out those resumes and going for the good jobs because you're afraid of no. No can't hurt you, it's either a detour, or God's way of saying something better is out there! This picture is a great companion to your commentary. Nice one!
Very nice shot and love the composition and focus. Rejection is a very hard thing to deal with, unfortunately it is a fact of life. Hope you learn to move past your fear :-)
congratulations on landing the top 5. did you win yet? i haven't read the discussion on the challenge but will as soon as i can. nice perspective on this photo.

I'm working on that.
Your spikey plant shot was terrific too.
This is a great image to go with your words. Coping with No is not easy
