This is how we create ambiance each evening (well, that, and we try to make sure it isn't too bright after sunset, so the feathered ones get their beauty sleep).
@olivetreeann Quite probably! Magic likes to stay up and snuggle, though she gets tired and grouchy. Another problem is that if it's light late they think it's summer, which is a good time for laying eggs as there's lots of food around. By keeping it dark in winter we avoid egg complications. (The girls are in the kitchen, which gets some light from the living room, so we usually have just this one lamp and the TV for light in the evenings).
@mwarren365 No, the light is in the living room and the girls live in the kitchen. They get a little of the light there, but on the whole it's pretty dark. This lamp is the only light we have on after dark.
