I'm a parrot person. I never realised it until we got Magic. It wasn't like I grew up with birds, or knew anyone who did. One day I just woke up and knew deeply and completely that I needed one in my life. We did our research, and somehow timed it just right to be able to adopt Magic, an adorable, friendly, crazy, sociable little sun conure, into our family. A while later we decided she needed some company while we were at work and adopted sophisticated, standoffish, seed-obsessed, elegant Phoenix to complete our flock.
Since the feathered ones moved in, I've connected with many other parrot people through Facebook, 365 and in person. (Note that you can be a parrot person without a parrot, and not a parrot person even though you have one). Without exception, parrot people are caring, sharing, kind, love birds... and are slightly mad (she types as a parrot preens her eyebrows and then climbs up her face...). I'm glad to be one of them :)
So sweet.... I think I'd be classed in the same way, but my cats would be happiest if I got a parrot... so maybe not. Glad I can enjoy yours so much :)
beautiful photo - Magic's colors really pop against the neutral background. i also appreciate knowing more about you! my mom had parakeets when i was a kid, and though i'd love having birds now, i'm in the same boat as Phil, having 5 cats
I don't know if I'm a parrot person, but I do find them extremely entertaining and I love reading about the antics of Magic and Phoenix. I particularly love this shot with just a tuft of your hair/head included. And the quote is perfect. I just had to fav it because it has so much heart!
