Melbourne Central by alia_801

Melbourne Central

Melbourne Central is a shopping centre and station in the middle of Melbourne. It has a large clock at its centre that opens up on the hour, playing Waltzing Matilda. The little galahs and cockatoos inside have a bit of a dance.

The tower is a 'shot tower' - where lead shot was historically made by dropping lumps of molten lead from the top - during the fall the metal would become spherical and cool, forming shot by the time it landed. As Melbourne was developed, the tower was preserved at the heart of the shopping centre, with a huge glass cone over the top.

There are also some very funky coloured lights throughout the shops too!

It looks so interesting and quite amazing that that is how they used to make the shots.

Great collage, Alia. I love Waltzing Matilda. Those are some great POVs and shapes and angles. I'm with Ann - the upper right shot is wicked cool.
