May Meeting of Book Club by allie912

May Meeting of Book Club

A group of colleagues usually meets after school to discuss our book of the month. Yesterday we assembled at Holly's house and I would be remiss if I didn't take time to honor her. Not only is she getting ready to move (with an early June date) but she is getting her current home ready to put on the market. (While there we could hear painters upstairs) In addition she and her husband are flying to Boston on Friday for a daughter's college graduation. None of that stopped her from preparing the most imaginative treats for our tasting delight. The 2 samples shown here both start with rye bread--that she baked herself. Then for the one on the left she layered mushrooms and feta and forgive me, I can't remember the 3rd ingredient. On the right she created a treat of gravlax, sour cream, dill, capers and green onions. We also had thinly sliced kohlrabi with salt or dill dipping sauce but that, although delicious, didn't show very well in a photograph. And by the time I thought to take pictures we had decimated the brie and raspberry jam.
So the food was terrific and our discussion was fun too.
BTW to see more about Holly check out my other album for today.
love this collage, Allison! (love my book club, too - we're meeting on Wednesday!)

What a wonderful time you obviously had, and how nice to give public kudos to your friend who's gone above-and-beyond!

I hope you saw we had a great meetup in Chicago with some wonderful gals! Today, rain, my two girls back at work & Ken's running errands, so I've got time to write everyone for awhile! I've really had it ALL this trip!

I need to learn some time management skills from you. The teaching, the time you give to 365, etc. etc. When do you have time to read a book?
re: the tea cup. There is a wonderful "Alice in Wonderland" display in the window of "By-Gones" the vintage clothing store on Cary Street. It's a couple of doors down from the Byrd Theater. I photographed the entire window and maybe I'll post it later. You should check out the window display - it's really nice.

About the beetle photo Allsion.
They don't seem to hurt the trees, but there are thousands of them at Christmas time, so I think they must breed in the summer. They become a nuisance as they are all over everything - but I just love their colours.

I read your comment Allison but how do you do that because with the free Picasa on the net when I open it to edit a photo it automatically copies any photo's I have put anywhere into it's program and when it makes the changes it changes them in the original folders as well and sometimes just wont let me undo them or if I delete one in Picasa it deletes it from my original folder on my computer as well, is there a setting I am missing????
